Activate Oklahoma provides information about active opportunities in Oklahoma. We collect and share information on social groups, places, and information to encourage active, healthy behaviors. We hope everyone from pre-beginners to intermediate and advanced athletes learn from these resources.
Research shows regular physical exercise has many health benefits, but an often-overlooked area is mental health. Regular physical exercise can reduce stress, reduce anxiety and depression, improve sleep, and improve self-esteem. Exercise has also been proven beneficial for addiction recovery including drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
Our programs begin with a safe, welcoming environment for new and experienced people. Our training programs take a personal approach and provide coaching and continual encouragement from the first step to completing your goal.
We strive to remove barriers to a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes this is as simple as finding a group of similar minded and interested people, sometimes it includes safe locations, and many times it includes a good pair of comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing.
We are comforted to know that all of our volunteers took their “first steps” at some point in their life and now are supporting others to achieve their goals - and an accidental healthy lifestyle.
